Kumkum app User Guide

This application is designed as a digital companion for artists, helping them bridge the gap between a reference image and their canvas by breaking down complex visual data into actionable color and compositional information.

1. Access & Authentication

Sign-in Options: The app supports Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-in a standard Email/Password authentication, and a generic Sign-in portal. This ensures a low barrier to entry for new users and secure data syncing for returning ones.

2. The Color Guide

A dedicated section that serves as a primer on color theory. It covers concepts like primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, as well as color harmony (complementary, analogous, etc.), setting the stage for the practical tools that follow.

3. Curated Color Palettes

Inspiration Hub: This feature displays a library of pre-set color palettes. Users can browse various "moods" or schemes to find inspiration for their next painting or design project.

4. Live Capture & "Pixelify"

Camera Integration: The user opens the camera to capture a live reference.

Pixelify: A real-time filter that simplifies the image into large blocks of color (pixelation). This allows the artist to focus on "values" and "big shapes" rather than getting lost in the details.

Save: The modified image can be saved directly to the local device or the app’s internal gallery.

5. Gallery Processing & "Oilify"

Load from Gallery: Users can pull high-quality photos from their existing library.

Oilify: This applies an AI-driven transformation that mimics the thick, textured look of oil paint (impasto style). It helps the artist visualize how a photo might look when translated into a physical painting.

Save: Results are saved for future reference.

6. Cubism & WaterPixels

Geometric Abstraction: This tool breaks the image down into geometric planes and facets, inspired by the Cubist movement. It's particularly useful for artists wanting to explore unconventional compositions and structural forms.

Fluid Aesthetics: A specialized filter that softens edges and blends colors with a fluid, watercolor-like effect. It provides a "wash" preview for artists working in transparent mediums.

7. Compositional Grids

Grid Overlay: A highly customizable tool that places a grid (like the Rule of Thirds or a 5x5 matrix) over the image. This is a classic "old master" technique to help artists maintain accurate proportions when sketching onto a canvas.

8. Extract Colors & Summary

Automated Palette Extraction: The app analyzes the entire image and "extracts" the core colors used.

Color Summary: It generates a statistical breakdown or list of the dominant hues, which is invaluable for pre-mixing paint on a physical palette.

9. Color Picker & Summary

Precision Picking: While the previous tool analyzes the whole image, this "Picker" tool allows the user to tap a specific spot to get an instant color summary of that exact coordinate.

10. The "Peep Hole" Tool

Isolating Hues: Perhaps the most unique artistic aid, this mimics a physical "value finder." It masks the entire screen except for a small circular "peephole," allowing the user to see a color in total isolation. This prevents the "simultaneous contrast" optical illusion where surrounding colors trick the eye into seeing a hue incorrectly.

11. AI Generate

Text-to-Image: Users can enter a text prompt (e.g., "A serene mountain lake in the style of Monet") to generate entirely new reference images from scratch using integrated AI models.

12. AI Transform

Image-to-Image: This goes beyond simple filters. It uses AI to fundamentally "re-imagine" an existing photo into a new style, potentially changing the lighting, texture, or era while keeping the original composition.

13. Sketch to Image

Refinement: A powerful tool where a user can upload a crude hand-drawn sketch, and the AI interprets it to create a fully rendered, realistic, or stylized image.

14. AI Gallery

Central Storage: A dedicated space for all AI-generated or AI-transformed images. This keeps the user’s "imagined" references separate from their standard photo library.

15. User Profile

Identity: Displays user details and statistics related to their activity in the app.

16. User Onboarding

Guided Tour: A sequence of screens or tooltips that introduces the user to the core features (likely triggered on first launch or via the profile menu).

17. Credit System & Sign Out

Credit System: Since high-end AI transformations cost computing power, the app includes a system to purchase credits to fund these generation tasks.

Secure Exit: Allows the user to safely log out of their session.
